Sample MarketView 1: Geographic Regions – Canada Market Research

The following series of reports were generated on the topic of Canada, its provinces, and a selection of 23 principle cities. While the scope of this project was more of a sketch than an exhaustive research project (tagging 80,000+ phrases for relevance takes time!), several interesting trends and slices of information become available by searching through these records.

The All Phrases Report is, quite literally, a listing of all of the phrases that were considered in this research project. This is a large file โ€“ be warned!

The Key Phrases Report shows a focused group of phrases relating to the province of Alberta that are being searched over 10,000 times per year.

The Resources, Employment, and Educational Searches Reports highlight searches that related to each of these themes.

Concept Fragmentation reports relating to three Canadian industries have been prepared as well. The first set shows the nature of the online real estate activity across Canada. Examples of how this information can be broken down into more focused topics can be seen in the following related reports:

The second industry highlighted is of more relaxing nature โ€“ fishing. The third commercial focus details search demand for Canada’s major professional sports teams.

To highlight the complexity of stratifying phrases when looking through search queries, consider the following unfiltered Co-Occurrence Study on the city Victoria, BC. As you can see, sifting through the thousands of phrases to find anything relevant is a daunting task!

Sample MarketView 2: Industrial / Consumer Goods – Plastics Market Research

The following more exhaustive sample MarketView was generated for an imaginary client: EXE Plastics Manufacturing Inc., an industrial plastics supplier and consumer goods manufacturer with shipping centered in the Eastern United States.

EXE Plastics was interested to know everything about online demand for plastic products (including polymers in many forms โ€“ pvc, kevlar, polyester, styrofoam, etc.) Note the similarities between these sample reports and the reports that might result from studying your own industrial / commercial focus.

Note the progression in phrase filtering from the All Phrases Report to the Relevant Phrases Report. The Key Phrases Report takes this process one step further, listing only phrases where manufacturing services are being requested.

The KEI Report highlights numerous excellent opportunities for phrases with few competing web sites.

Geographic-oriented searches are sorted out using the In Market Searches and Out of Market Searches reports.

The Resources and Educational Searches Reports also detail interesting search demand.

For a more detailed breakdown of the demand for specific types of plastics, the following Co-occurrence Studies were developed:

To see how product demand related to specific markets, the following reports highlight a handful of commercial applications of EXE Plastics’ potential products:

Product Segmentation Reports further detail the demand for specific types of products made from plastics:

Analyzing the search data can also happen in different ways. For instance, the following Co-occurrence Reports list the demand for plastics products by their color:

The synonyms used by consumers for plastic products are plentiful, including use of the word Synthetic along with a desired plastic product.

Using this Information:

As you can already see (even without a personal consultation with Epiar to review these reports), analysis of search queries can shed remarkable light on consumer demand, potential commercial opportunities, and the proper naming of existing products to reflect consumer expecations. Would your business benefit from this level of detailed knowledge of what your consumers want?
